Cookie Policy

What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They help websites remember things like your login status, preferences, language choice, and other settings, so the site works correctly across pages and visits.
How We Use Cookies
Uplift uses cookies and similar technologies (such as localStorage on your browser) for three main purposes:
Strictly Necessary
Without these, the site does not function. They include:
- Session management (keeping you logged in across pages)
- Form data persistence (so a half-completed application doesn't lose your work)
- Security tokens (CSRF protection, fraud prevention)
- Cookie consent state (so we don't keep asking)
- Accessibility widget preferences (text size, contrast, language) stored in localStorage
Strictly necessary cookies and storage cannot be disabled. They are essential to operating the Site.
Analytics (Optional)
If used, these help us understand how visitors find and use the Site so we can improve it. They are aggregated and do not identify you personally. Examples:
- Pages visited and time on page
- Browser and device type
- Referral source
You can decline analytics cookies via the "Manage cookies" link in our footer.
Marketing (Optional, Not Currently Used)
We do not currently use marketing cookies or behavioral-advertising trackers. If this changes, we will update this policy and require explicit opt-in.
Third-Party Cookies
Some third-party services we use may set their own cookies:
- Payment processor (Stripe and similar) may set cookies during checkout for fraud prevention and session management
- Video players embedded for introduction or My Uplift Story videos may set cookies (we'll move toward the privacy-enhanced versions of these embeds where available)
- Social media buttons, if added to the site, may set cookies; we currently link to social media without embedding tracked widgets
Managing Cookies
- Use the "Manage cookies" link in our footer to set preferences
- Use your browser settings to clear existing cookies or block them per site
- Use private/incognito browsing mode to prevent persistent cookies for a session
- We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as an opt-out of optional cookies and analytics
Do Not Track
Most browsers offer a "Do Not Track" signal. We honor GPC (which has wider regulatory recognition) but do not currently respond to legacy DNT headers separately, in line with industry practice.
Children
We do not use cookies to track or target advertising to children. See our Privacy Policy section on Children's Privacy (COPPA).
Changes to This Policy
When we update this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top.
